Gerson Lima
Gerson Lima Filho, a native of Indaiatuba, is a professional drummer, trained at IP&T (Institute of Percussion and Technology), and works as a teacher, studio musician, and sideman.
He has always stood out for his versatility, accompanying artists such as Afonso Nigro (ex-Dominó), Luiza Possi, Alexandre Pires, Kid Vinil, Paulo Miklos (ex-Titans), Emanuelle Araújo, Léo Maia, Altemar Dutra Filho, Toquinho, George Israel (Kid Abelha), Preta Gil, Toni Garrido (ex-Cidade Negra), Buchecha, Tiago Abravanel, Tuca Fernandes, Léo Jaime, Luciana Mello, Thaeme and Thiago, Marcos and Belluti, Henrique and Diego, Elba Ramalho, Di Ferrero (NX Zero), Paulo Ricardo (ex-RPM), Alinne Rosa, Dudu Nobre, Roger (Ultraje a Rigor), Dinho Ouro Preto (Capital Inicial), Simoninha, Mumuzinho, Fafá de Belém, Sonia Di Morais, among others.
He participated in several specialized drum festivals: Modern Drummer Festival (2006), Bateria & Percussão Magazine (2008), Odery Festival (2010), among others.
He was a columnist for the now-defunct specialized magazine "Modern Drummer Brasil" (2012-2016).
In 2014, he released his first DVD, "Plantão GF – Viradas Rock," which received considerable attention in specialized media.
In 2015, the renowned American educator Dom Famularo cited Gerson in an article in Modern Drummer Americana magazine, where he wrote: "Drummers you should take lessons from when visiting these countries."
In Brazil, Dom Famularo cited twenty drummers besides Gerson, including Aquiles Priester, Edu Ribeiro, Kiko Freitas, Vera Figueiredo, Douglas De Las Casas, and others.
Gerson also endorses several products and was a pioneer on YouTube, where he has had the channel "Gerson Lima Filho Vídeos" since 2006, with over 57,000 subscribers/9 million views, posting weekly material with tips for drummers.
He currently plays with his power trio, Alien Groove (formed in 2004), which has recorded two CDs. With the Rodrigo Andreiuk Trio (pianist), in 2017, he recorded "Brazilian Symphonic Phantasy" with the Budapest Symphony Orchestra (Budapest, Hungary), for which the trio won the Global Music Awards Bronze Medal.
He currently plays drums for "Nigro Produções," where he works as a sideman, accompanying several renowned national artists.
