Diego Freitas

"How about some music?"

It is with this spirit of camaraderie and high spirits that Diego Gonçalves de Freitas,
also known as Diego Freitas, has pursued his musical career.

Born in Salvador on September 28, 1982, Diego played his first drums at the age of
10 when he received his first drum kit from his brother, arranger and music producer Jomar Freitas.

In 1994, while Axé Music was beginning its transformation into a strong music industry
with great market potential, Diego climbed onto a float
at just 12 years old to make his first circuit. At that moment, he already
laid out the soundtrack that would compose his life.

Like a true Libra, Diego exudes a blend of tranquility, loyalty, and exudes an
energetic and bold spirit. With a positive and persistent attitude, he faces challenges
with great determination, good humor, and a drive to succeed. His musical influences stem from North American drummers Dennis Chambers and Dave Weckl, highly influential jazz drummers.
His color, white, led him to Banda do Bem, whose visual identity is white.
Lightness, peace, and joy are virtues passed on by this group led by Bahian artist
Ivete Sangalo.

Diego's career has been marked by significant moments involving several Bahian bands,
among them Rapazolla and Netinho.

Starting in 2000, Diego helped form Rapazolla and remained its musical director
for many years.

In 2003, he was invited to join singer Netinho's band,
staying for a year.

In 2004, he returned to Rapazolla and resumed musical direction of the band, which emerged on the national
scene with the hit "Coração" sung by singer Tomate.

Leandro Lopes, the winning singer of the first season of the Ídolos Show (SBT), took over
the vocals for Rapazolla in 2008. Diego continued with Rapazolla until Carnival 2011, the date that
marked Leandro Lopes' departure from the group.

After Márcio Brasil returned to percussion in Banda do Bem, Diego received an invitation
to join the Ivete Sangalo Family. It couldn't have been better to mark its beginning: March 29,
2011, the anniversary of Boa Terra, Salvador's 462nd anniversary, and the day Diego performed
his first show with Banda do Bem. The party was a gift from singer Ivete Sangalo to the
people of Bahia, bringing to one of the city's 7 Magic Spots, the Lacerda Elevator, the show
presented during the recording of his 4th DVD at Madison Square Garden in New York, USA.

With Banda do Bem, Diego has traveled from one end of Brazil to the other, always bringing
sound, joy, and, above all, the culture of Bahia. Outside of the Canarinho nation, Diego has been to the
United States and Portugal, both with the Madison Square Garden Tour, in addition to
participating in major national and international festivals, including Rock in Rio. On December 20, 2014, he recorded the DVD IS20 at the Fonte Nova Arena in Salvador, Bahia, in an event
representing the 20-year career of artist Ivete Sangalo, and is already on tour throughout
Brazil.
He is currently on the "A Festa" tour, celebrating the artist's 30th anniversary.
